China lifts ban on SA wool products

The Agriculture Department has welcomed the lifting of a ban on South African wool products by China.

Minister Thoko Didiza says money has been lost due to the ban. In April, China banned SA wool imports following an outbreak of foot and mouth disease. Didiza says the wool export industry is worth R1-billion.

“We have lost a lot of money because farmers were not able to export. We’d like to thank our counterparts for appreciating the efforts that we’ve undertaken to make sure that we contain the spread… for export.
