TRUE LOVE has a vacancy for a Chief Copy Editor in its production office in Auckland Park.

Duties

Manage and lead the copy editor (and any freelance copy editors)

Ensure that the quality of final products (for both print and online) is of the highest standard, is creative and consistent with the brand’s tone and style guide

Assist the content editor with proofreading and signing off the final pages

Guide and mentor the writers and copy editor

Mentor and train the copy editors, content producers and writers on any copy-related issues

Together with the content editor, identify weaknesses in articles/stories and take action to rectify the problems

Keep abreast of news, contribute to editorial ideas and coverline meetings

Write client advertorials and help out with event report backs

Fluency in the languages relevant to the publication

Mentoring ability

Good knowledge of magazine production;

The successful candidate has to meet the following criteria:

At least five years’ experience in copy editing;

Skilled at writing headlines and captions;

Other applicable experience in journalism;

Ability to work independently and meet daily deadlines;

A valid code 8 driver’s license;

A diploma or degree in journalism or related field will strengthen the application.
