Co-accused claims he was part of Charl Kinnear plot to kill Nafiz Modack
A co-accused alleges he was part of an elaborate plot to kill alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, on behalf of slain top cop, Charl Kinnear.
The accused, along with Modack and 13 others, faces 122 charges for various crimes, including Kinnear’s murder in September 2020.
Yannick Adonis faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder related to three botched attacks on Kinnear in November 2019.
Adonis, who was behind bars for murder at the time, said that he approached the anti-gang unit (AGU) with information that Modack was planning a grenade attack on Kinnear.
The accused said that Kinnear then hatched a plot to trap Modack by planning a botched grenade attack on his home.
Adonis said that Kinnear’s plan was to send AGU members to arrest Modack for the grenade attack, and when he resisted, he would be shot dead.
The trial continues on Monday.
