Wife of slain Charl Kinnear says Nafiz Modack has ties with corrupt top cops

Nicolette Kinnear, the wife of slain top cop Charl Kinnear, says she has no doubt that alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack has a corrupt relationship with high-ranking police officers.

Kinnear’s comments come after Modack on Thursday told the court he had evidence that police officers assassinated her husband.

Modack, along with 14 other accused, face 124 charges in the Western Cape High Court related to racketeering and murder including the assassination of Kinnear’s husband in September 2020.

Kinnear told the publication she hoped Modack could prove the allegations he made in court.

“I’ve already made it clear that my husband testified way back in 2017/2018 about Nafiz having connections with high-ranking senior police officers within the province,” said Kinnear.

However, she added that Modak had made allegations before, which were unfounded.

“I just hope that if it is that he’s prepared to come clean, if this is the real McCoy, I won’t be surprised,” she said.

Modack pleaded not guilty to the murder of Kinnear and more than 90 of the other charges he faces.
