SCOPA to conduct oversight visit at chaotic RAF

The Road Accident Fund is in the cross-hairs of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) once again.
Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee will conduct an oversight visit to the fund on Wednesday.
It follows a meeting in June when the committee was probing a dispute with the Auditor-General.
Tsakani Maluleke was unable to find evidence for expenditure and liabilities claims of almost R65bn.
The fund says it changed its accounting policy to reflect these claims as social benefits.
The committee will also look into reports of improper claims handling and an unconducive working environment.
During the last visit MPs said they had found a “most chaotic situation”.
