SAA board accepts CEO resignation

The national carrier’s board of directors confirmed they have accepted SAA CEO, Vuyani Jarana’s resignation in a statement on Sunday.
Jarana stated he would serve notice and leave SAA on 31 August.
Chairperson of the SAA board, JB Magwaza said, “on behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Mr Jarana for his service and commitment to the airline. He contributed to returning confidence and credibility to the airline.
“We wish him well in his future endeavours.”
Jarana was appointed to head the embattled airline in November 2017.
In his resignation letter, he outlined how funding uncertainty and slow decision-making processes are delaying the turnaround strategy.
He said the strategy is being systematically undermined.
Jarana says 60 percent of the airline’s problems are internal, within the control of the board and management.
