Celebrating Human rights day with my natural hair: Gugu Gumede

Ladies, don’t get us wrong, we also love us some weaves, we don’t discriminate when it comes to hairstyles, but sometimes it is refreshing to see our stars rock a different look, especially when it comes to hair. Today I’m having a good day, Celebrating Human rights day with my special Natural hair.

Gugu Gumede

Uzalo and eHostela actress  Gugu Gumede is known for her amazing make-up and of course those weaves and hair pieces but as of late, the actress has decided to go all natural and we’re absolutely here for it!

However, Gugu has made it clear that her hair does not define who she is, but in some intricate way, it does give her a bit of room to challenge life and grab it by the balls.

Gugu Gumede

“My hair is not my crown, because I can decide to shave it off tomorrow. However, as a black woman who formerly couldn’t walk out of the house without a weave, it is my pride. This year I am going through a weird time where I keep saying ‘I’m going to put my wig back on any moment now’ but I just don’t. Weird, since this is also the year when I’m fighting for myself to be heard in male-dominated spaces even more.

I figure, being just a woman isn’t enough, why not further complicate the matter by being a strong black woman that’s comfortable with her kinky Afro?! Lol. It gets them going. I am breathing. I am a black woman, and I am breathing.”

Shout out to Gugu for constantly being comfortable in her own skin and in her own hair, embracing more of our natural hair is something that definitely needs to be celebrated more often.
