Outages affect Cape Town water supply

The City of Cape Town is urging residents to use water sparingly.

Authorities in the Mother City say the continuous rolling power cuts are affecting water operations.

The city says it’s doing this to try and avoid reservoirs from running dry.

“If you look at Cape Town it’s not flat all the way, which requires that we engage in pumping to convey water,” said Farouk Robertson from the City’s Water and Sanitation Department.

“So we’re making a request to our consumers to sustain the water supply, we request they reduce their consumption.”
