Cape Town commuters scramble for transport

Western Cape commuters will again have to find alternative transport on Thursday morning.

Santaco said protest action will go on until a moratorium on impounding taxis is instituted.

Taxi bosses are expected to go to court to force the city to release impounded vehicles.

The alliance is also accusing the city of intimidating operators.

The City of Cape Town says the protection of commuters and public safety is its priority.

The strike has seen buses and trucks torched and several disruptions to services in the city.

The city says it will provide police escorts for buses and food delivery services.

It’s also reached out to Gift of the Givers and Healing Land to help affected communities.
