Golden Arrow steps in to help Cape Town commuters

Golden Arrow Bus Services has stepped in to assist taxi commuters who’ve been stranded due to the feud between Cata and Codeta.

Many taxis aren’t operating following route closures.

Golden Arrow Bus Services spokesperson Bronwen Dyke-Beyer explained: “We are running full steam ahead, we’ve got 1,100 buses on the road we are running after peak to make sure all the passengers are cleared. In the evenings we have even been given permission to run after curfew, if necessary, to make sure that people still get home.

“Last week was a big eye-opener for authorities, they realized they need to come to the party. We haven’t had any issues in the last five or six days but we have had law enforcement along all our routes, escorts in the evenings, so I think that visibility from the authorities has made all the difference,” she said.

Dyke-Beyer said a social worker is available to staff for counselling and support.
