Funny! South Africans over the moon on first day of buying Beer – Video

After 66 sober-days under the COVID-19 induced lockdown, thousands of South African imbibers were finally set loose from their cocoons on a booze shopping spree.
Due to strict restrictions set by the government on selected liquor stores permitted to sell booze, the set hours of the sale, and quantity of sale; inevitably massive queues were expected in the early morning in the streets.
Humorous reports reaching iHarare show scenes from outside shopping centers where impatient imbibers queued from the early Monday morning hours awaiting the opening shops.

The country finally eased lockdown restrictions to Level 3 with effect from June 1– with more sectors of the economy opening and the removal of a number of restrictions that included the sale of booze.
While the majority of South Africans are enthusiastic over the sale of alcohol, the move was however not met without controversy – especially from the EFF who exclusively denounced the sale of booze as cumbersome to the South African economic recovery route and to the health sector.
One tweet from Mbuyiseni Ndlozi said;
How do we categorize these people lining up outside liquor stores? They are not at work on a Monday, or going to work. They are outside #Liquorshops, to BUY alcohol. They lined up long before even shops opened.
What kind of society is this?
