Health Minister Zweli Mkhize denies receiving funds from businessman Edwin Sodi

Health Minister Zweli Mkhize is denying receiving funds from businessman Edwin Sodi.

He says Sodi, like other business people, donated to the ANC while he was the party’s treasurer general.

Mkhize says he never recovered money from him either personally or through a third party.

He says donors may have used his name as a reference regarding donations made to the ANC. Mkhize also says he never interacted with Sodi at a personal level.

Sodi is facing corruption charges relating to the controversial Free State asbestos project.

Mkhize says the DA’s statement that the party will report him to Parliament’s Ethics Committee is senseless.
