Heartbreaking scenes: Bus accident leaves 11 dead

Eleven people have been killed today, Friday, 15 April after a Scania bus crashed into a Toyota minibus on the N1 near Leeu Gamka in Western Cape.

Road Traffic Management Corporation spokesman Simon Zwane said it happened at about 6 am.

“Allegedly, the minibus was travelling from Western Cape to Eastern Cape and suffered a tyre failure, where the minibus pulled to the side. The bus travelling from Beaufort West towards Cape Town drove into the minibus.”

He said recovery and rescue operations were still underway to look for more possible dead people underneath the bus.
