Ramaphosa says he’ll announce what will happen with BRICS summit
President Cyril Ramaphosa says he will announce in due course what the decision will be regarding Russian president, Vladimir Putin attending the BRICS summit.
Ramaphosa says he is still deliberating on the matter.
The International Criminal Court has issued a warrant of arrest for Putin, accusing him of war crimes in Ukraine.
“The issue of President Putin attending the summit, the BRICS summit as I have said is being discussed in the light of the International Criminal Court having issued a warrant for his arrest,” he said.
“We being South Africa being the host, obviously, have to discuss this and come up with a clear position.”
