Suspect in bread delivery murders to remain behind bars

Ayanda Dayi, 34, appeared in court facing charges of murder, attempted murder, and robbery with aggravating circumstances.

He is one of the suspects arrested for the robbery of the Sasko Bread delivery van where two workers were fatally shot.

Dayi was hospitalized after community workers attacked him, accusing him of stealing.

The State has linked him to an attack on the bread delivery van that was ambushed in Delft in May. Two of the three occupants of the van were fatally wounded.

Dashcam footage of the incident was shared on social media. The bread manufacturer, Sasko, says it is committed to working with the police and the judicial system to bring the perpetrators to book.

Police are still searching for the other suspects in the armed robbery.

The case has been postponed until 3 July to obtain bail information.
