Booysen expected to complete his testimony tomorrow on #Statecaptureinquiry
According to commission spokesperson Mbuyiselo Stemela, the former head of the KZN Hawks is expected to complete his testimony tomorrow.
Another two days of cross-examination at the Commission of Inquiry into State Capture awaits Johan Booysen, former head of the KwaZulu-Natal Hawks, who today resumes his testimony before Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo.
The commission plans to exhaust matters pertaining to the capture of law enforcement agencies, before moving on to widespread corruption and malfeasance at state-owned enterprise Transnet, where billions of rands were spent on questionable deals – likely to dominate most of May.
According to commission spokesperson Mbuyiselo Stemela, Booysen was expected to complete his testimony tomorrow.
So far, Booysen has lifted the lid on how:
A secret service account was misused to build a fence around the KwaZulu-Natal private residence of former police minister Nathi Mthethwa, at a cost of R195,000 to the taxpayer.
He was arrested on trumped-up charges of racketeering by junior police officers – a campaign meant to embarrass him.
Money meant for use by crime intelligence was looted.
