JMPD officers to wear body cameras

Police Officers working under the Johannesburg Metro Police Department officers will soon be wearing body cameras.
These will be used to capture criminal activities.
Since July 2022, at least six officers have been dismissed for dealing in corruption.
JMPD Acting Chief Angie Mokasi says body cameras will not only fight corruption but will also help protect officers and the community.
Mokasi said, “we have invested a lot of resources in internal affairs. We are purchasing body cameras that will assist in issues around corruption, They will also protect our officers and protect the public. We believe this will eradicate corruption.”
