Blade Nzimande slams Educor for failing to ensure its institutions function properly

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has slammed private education provider, Educor, for failing to ensure its institutions function accordingly.

Four of its colleges, including Damelin, City Varsity, Icesa City Campus, and Lyceum College, have been deregistered as institutions of higher learning.

It’s emerged that the colleges failed to submit their audited financial statements in the last four years and have barely met the requirements prescribed for private institutions.

Speaking at a media briefing in Pretoria on Tuesday, Nzimande said it’s about time Educor was held accountable for its non-compliance.

“In addition to failing to submit evidence of their financial viability to the department, the four Educor brands can be deemed as dysfunctional. This is mainly measured against the daily complaints and grievances received from students, most of which remain unresolved.”
