Bidvest Wits 3-0 Young Buffaloes #CAFCC

Bidvest Wits kept their CAF Confederation Cup campaign alive after defeating Young Buffaloes 3-0 in the second leg of their first-round encounter.

The Clever Boys entered the second leg trailing after suffering a 1-0 loss in the first leg two weeks ago.

Gavin Hunt rang the changes for the encounter, as the likes of Ricardo Goss, Phathutshedzo Nange, Carl Lark, Sameegh Doutie and Lehlohonolo Nonyane were handed starts.

After a quiet opening to the half, the Clever Boys managed to break the deadlock on 22 minutes thanks to a strike from Gift Motupa to level the tie 1-1 on aggregate.

It got better for the South African outfit seven minutes later, with Motupa completing his brace to put the home side ahead in the overall tie.

Things turned a bit sour for Hunt’s men in the second half after being reduced to 10 men when Keagan Ritchie was given his marching orders for picking up his second yellow card.

Hunt responded with two changes moments later as Mxolisi Macuphu and Terrence Dzvukamanja replaced Lark and Motupa for the final 20 minutes of the game.

Dzvukamanja put the icing on the cake for the Clever Boys to make it 3-0 on the night and 3-1 on aggregate as the Absa Premiership side advance to the next round.
