Heavy backlog persists at Beitbridge border post
The South African Association of Freight Forwarders, is urging government and business stakeholders in the region to ensure easy flow at borders.
It says this is imperative for the Africa Free Trade pact to work.
There’s been chaos at the Beitbridge border post, with upgrades and toll fee collection in Zimbabwe, leading to backlogs of up to ten days.
The Association, which specializes in facilitating clearances for its clients says South Africa’s clearance processes have become more digitized.
Its CEO says there’s a struggle on the Zimbabwean side to check compliance of South African trucks but she says trucks are beginning to move.
