Not having Zweli Mkhize appear before Parliament was a mistake, says Dhlomo

It was a mistake not having Health Minister Zweli Mkhize appear before Parliament.

That is the admission of Health Portfolio Committee chair, Sibongiseni Dhlomo.

He says Mkhize was to meet with them on Thursday, but then he was placed on special leave.

Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Lechesa Tsenoli, says it can’t drag members before the committee by the collar.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has placed Health Minister Zweli Mhkize on special leave.

The Presidency says Mkhize’s leave will allow him to attend to the allegations around the Digital Vibes contract.

Tourism Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane will serve as acting Health Minister.
