Nonhlanhla and Thapelo didn’t wait for week, or months before starting dating. They literally went for it on the very day they met! Yep! This was way back in 2005. They were both on duty that day, albeit in different departments. Thapelo as the sergeant, working outside on the patrol van, while she worked in the control room.
He had spotted her earlier and thought she was very beautiful. Thapelo called her on the extension number with the hope to get her mobile number. But Nonhlanhla decided to give him directions to where their department was stationed. The first thing she thought when she saw him was, “There’s the father of my children.” Indeed, they have been blessed with three children.
Nonhlanhla had to leave Thapelo and her then six-month-old twins and undergo sangoma initiation. This was a difficult time because Thapelo had to take charge and look after the children. Luckily, they have a good support system and their families pitched in every now and then to help. Thapelo told his family of his plan to marry Nonhlanhla. This was in 2008. He sent a letter to her parents, asking for her hand in marriage. This was the best day of her life.
