Black Business Council wants answers from Absa on Pityana

The Black Business Council wants answers from the banking regulator over accusations made by Sipho Pityana about being blocked from the Absa chairmanship. Pityana caused a stir earlier this week when he accused the Reserve Bank’s Prudential Authority of unlawfully blocking his appointment.

The authority approves nominations for board appointments and determines whether candidates are fit and proper.

The Black Business Council says while it recognises and congratulates Sello Moloko on his appointment as chair of Absa, it wants to fully understand the principles of what happened.
