Bathabile Dlamini’s acquittal application dismissed

The Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court has dismissed Bathabile Dlamini‘s application for the acquittal of perjury charges. Dlamini launched an application for discharge after prosecutors closed their case in November.
The former Social Development minister faces a charge of perjury for allegedly giving false evidence during a 2017 inquiry into the social grants crisis. Her perjury trial continues
