The Mpumalanga health department is investigating claims that a COVID-19 quarantine facility in Groblersdal doesn’t meet basic health standards. The Zithabiseni Resort is being used to quarantine 107 people repatriated from neighbouring countries. But they say they fear for their health.
South Africans recently repatriated from Swaziland and Mozambique say they’re shocked at the way things are done at the facility where they’ve been placed. The Mpumalanga health department is denying claims that conditions at the Zithabiseni Resort are sub-standard.
In a statement, it insists that work is being done to fix and upgrade showers and toilets and to clear away rubble on the premises. Meanwhile, the repatriated South Africans say they really want to leave but have to remain there for 14 days. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday
