Basetsana Kumalo believes her parents are proud of her, and smiling from heaven

Former Miss South Africa and media mogul Basetsana Kumalo has written a book about her storied life entitled Bassie: My Journey of Hope. In the interview above, she discusses in detail her court battles with corporates and cyberbullies.

The book gives some insight into her private life which she mostly keeps out of the public eye. The 45-year-old addresses the abuse she allegedly suffered during her relationship with boxer Dingaan Thobela, and reveals how she and her husband Romeo Kumalo have kept their 20-year relationship strong.

In the interview above, she discusses how her parents would feel about her life’s achievements so far. I firmly believe that they are my guardian angels and they would be very proud. I would hear my dad say ‘well done baby girl’ – he used to call me ‘baby girl’.

Kumalo believes that her mom would have encouraged her with the words, “Usebenzile mntanam” (you did this, baby). I believe they are smiling from heaven,” says Kumalo.
