Three dead, multiple others injured in in fiery Bapsfontein crash

Gauteng: At 08H11 Tuesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the R25 in Bapsfontein Ekhuruleni.

Reports from the scene indicate that a bakkie, car, and taxi were involved in a collision resulting in the car bursting into flames.

The Ekhuruleni Fire and Rescue Services had begun to extinguish the fire while paramedics from multiple services stabilized the patients who were scattered on the road.

Medics found that one person from the bakkie and another from the burnt-out car had sustained fatal injuries.

At least twelve other patients, five critical and seven others were found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on the scene.

Sadly one of the critically injured patients condition had rapidly deteriorated and was sadly declared deceased on the scene.

Due to the nature of one of the occupants injuries a helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to the hospital.
