ActionSA taking IEC to court over missing name on ballot papers

ActionSA is taking the IEC to court after the political party’s name was not printed on the ballot papers for the local government elections.

The party is now seeking an order that all printed ballot papers be destroyed.

It is also asking for a confirmation order that the use of an abbreviation for a party is optional.

However, the IEC says it is the party’s fault for not registering an abbreviated name.
