KZN police investigate cause of Ballito wall collapse at a construction site

In KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the cause of a wall collapse at a construction site in Ballito which claimed the lives of four people on Saturday.
Fourteen workers were on site when the incident occurred, with search and rescue officials struggling to locate five who were buried under the rubble.
Efforts were hampered by the collapse of the sandbanks around the site.
One of the five was found alive after hours of searching by officials.
Police Spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says inquest dockets have been opened for investigation.
“The police’s search and rescue team working with other private entities managed to rescue all five victims, however, four of them were certified dead at the scene. One worker was found alive, approximately six hours after the collapse of the wall.”
