Collins Letsoalo explains reason for massive claims backlog at RAF

Road Accident Fund (RAF) CEO Collins Letsoalo said the reason for the massive backlog they were experiencing was due to pending claims without supporting documents.
The fund is still working to clear a backlog of 321,000 claims.
It has now started a campaign to encourage claimants to come forward and said anyone who submitted claims before April 2021 should submit all outstanding documents to finalize their claims.
“The call for the outstanding documents ensures that the RAF has the necessary documents and details that informs it of what is being claimed for, setting out the basis for the claim in order to allow the RAF to investigate and ultimately pay the claim,” said Letsoalo.
Letsoalo said claimants could contact them to find out which documents they should be sending.
“The number is 087 820 1111, people can also send SMSs to 44930, and of course setting up that email address at [email protected].”
