UZALO star Baby Cele and her businessman husband Thabo Maloka renewed their vows in a traditional ceremony over the weekend.
The first part of the wedding was held at Baby’s home in Umlazi, south of Durban, and the second at Virginia Airport.
“I remember when I first met him at a party and the Mafikizolo song, Ndihamba Nawe, played and I realized I loved him.”
In Umlazi, the Malokas presented gifts to the Celes while Baby honoured her mamezala, Anna, with a basketful of gifts and sweets.
The lovebirds then arrived at the airport in a small plane before renewing their vows.
Thabo told Daily Sun while he and Baby legally married in 2017, the elders pressured them to get married traditionally.
“I started dating her in 2001 when she was acting on Backstage. We broke up but got back together in 2015 after realising we made a mistake,” he said.
“We have three kids and this time it’s for good. We’ve done one of the key traditional ceremonies that strengthen the bond between families.”
He wasn’t intimidated by Baby’s romance on Uzalo.
“When we’re at home, she’s my Baby and not Gabisile.”
Baby, who wore a stunning dress by Mamsy Phoko, said she wanted Thabo to know she appreciated and loved him.
“We’re not perfect. We have our weaknesses but we are committing ourselves to each other until death do us part.
“I remember when I first met him at a party and the Mafikizolo song, Ndihamba Nawe, played and I realized I loved him.”
