Babita Deokaran’s alleged killers back in court
Her death sent shockwaves throughout the country in August.
On Friday, six men accused of murdering whistleblower Babita Deokaran will know if they’ll be released on bail.
Closing arguments in their bail application will be heard in the Johannesburg magistrate’s court on Friday.
The state is opposing their bail, citing — among other things — concerns for their safety as the mastermind behind the killing is still at large.
Deokaran, a senior finance official in the Gauteng Health Department, was gunned down outside her home in August.
She was a key witness in a PPE corruption investigation.
