Kelly Khumalo gets dragged into the Babes-Mampintsha saga

What began as a funny tweet ended up being a smear campaign against Kelly Khumalo who, until this day, has been linked with the unsolved murder of her late partner and Orlando Pirates’ goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa
It’s official, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane has opened a case of assault against her boyfriend and Afrotainment star Mampintsha at the Westville Police Station in Durban, last night. Babes received an outpouring of support following the incident, after sharing a video of the attack on social media.
Now how does Kelly Khumalo fit into all of this? Well, a short while after the incident was reported, Kelly Khumalo started trending on Twitter, with some suggesting that Mampintsha should date Khumalo who had been labelled “babes wokufa” (babes of death). That way, Mampintsha would be sure to receive his fate.
This dates back to when Kelly Khumalo dated the the late Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa. Senzo was shot dead in October 2014 when the goalkeeper was visiting his Kelly Khumalo at her mother’s house in Vosloorus on the East Rand. Kelly also, at one time dated businessman and music promoter, Prosper Mkwaiwa. He died on the way to the clinic after having complained of having a high fever and pain.
Although both cases are unrelated, the only link the two incidents share are Kelly Khumalo. It may be that people were looking for someone to place blame on, since both deaths were untimely.
One social media user said Simelane should call on Khumalo who would “deal with him”.
Shortly after that tweet, the hashtag Kelly Khumalo spread like wild fire. Making her the butt of these death “jokes”.

Even though it’s clear that there is very little difference between the kinds of abuse, Kelly still faced a swarm of cyber bullying tweets

Kelly remains strong and resilient about the cyberbullying and continues to promote her music on social media. What would you call it? Are people just being sensitive or is this no different to the Babes and Mampintsha case?
