The Wallabies avoid a massive upset by posting 27 unanswered points against a brave Fiji outfit to eventually win 39-21 in their Rugby World Cup opener under the dome in Sapporo.
Well, after trailing by two at the break, the Wallabies went back to basics and began to allow their superiority to count.
The Wallabies always had all the possession, the Fijians only scoring off turnovers, but once they cut those out it was only going to end up with one result.
All 23 players were used by Michael Cheika – and the replacements made a really big impact for the Wallabies.
A good, hard test early ahead of sterner tests ahead – next up for the Wallabies, Six Nations Grand Slam winners Wales.
Fiji captain Dominiko Waqaniburotu said after the game that discipline let his side down and that he is “very disappointed” with the result.
Whilst Wallabies captain Michael Hooper says he is “absolutely” satisfied with a “testing” victory. He also praised the replacements who made such a huge difference off the bench.
“That’s what we need from the guys coming off the bench to come in and finish things off.”
