Aural appeal, dynamic ability, sportier looks – that’s the new Cayenne GTS

Porsche has unveiled the new Porsche Cayenne and Cayenne GTS Coupé models. As always, the GTS represents a more emotional addition to the range, packaged to include design, drivetrain and dynamic components that ultimately deliver a more driver-focused experience.

GTS DETAILING

As always, the key GTS signature details abound. The Cayenne GTS sports black finishes on all the exterior trim including the air intakes, front wings, rear bumper and of course badging. You also won’t miss the 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels nor the tinted LED lights in the front and rear.

Continuing with GTS tradition, the interior is tailored in a mix of materials: Alcantara on the roof lining, door panels, armrests and seats. You’ll note GTS badges on the door sills, the seat head restraints and the tachometer display. This GTS also comes standard with eight-way adjustable sports seats.

PERFORMANCE ENHANCEMENTS – THE V8 IS BACK

The Cayenne GTS isn’t just about aesthetic modifications but there’s a host of technical additions that augment the driving performance. Any Porsche GTS-badged product sports an improved driving experience for the more performance-enthused customers.

The big news here is that Porsche has opted to employ the power of a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 in this latest Cayenne GTS duo. Capable of 338kW and 620Nm, the engine is capable of delivering a 4,5-second 0 – 100km/h sprint (0,6-seconds quicker than the previous Cayenne GTS) and a top end of 270km/h.

MANAGING THE POWER – IMPROVED DYNAMICS

The Cayenne GTS as well as the Cayenne Coupé GTS have been lowered by 20mm. Porsche Torque Vectoring that works in conjunction with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system is also standard in the GTS. Further performance options are available in the form of an additional 10mm down on the suspension, rear-axle steering and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control system, an active stabilisation system for improved cornering ability.

WITH GTS, SOUND IS EVERYTHING

Porsche has ensured the characteristic GTS sound is retained in this latest generation. On the Cayenne GTS, the standard exhaust system features quadruple tailpipes that let out a specifically tuned sound for aural appeal.

Offered exclusively on the Cayenne GTS Coupé, is an optional lightweight high-frequency exhaust system with two centrally mounted exhaust outlets, similar in shape and position to that of the 718 Cayman GT4. It offers a more distinctive look and emotive sound.

PERSONALISATION AND OPTIONS

Whilst Porsche offers the new GTS models with a number of standard specifications, there is no stopping customers from adding additional aesthetic and performance-shaping options. Interior personalisation includes Crayon and Carbine Red interior colours within the GTS treatment.

Cayenne GTS side

For improved braking performance, Porsche offers the high-end carbon-ceramic composite braking system or the tungsten surface coated options depending on customer needs.

The GTS-badged models generally cater to the needs of most customers, always proving to be a popular product addition to the strong-selling Cayenne SUV range.

Pricing is yet to be confirmed for Mzansi, but expect the first units of the Cayenne GTS and Cayenne GTS Coupe to arrive before the end of the year.
