Position: Assistant Accountant
Reporting line: Divisional Financial Manager
Dealership: Head Office
Purpose of the job:
To assist the Group Reporting Manager and Group Accountant with Head Office accounting as well as various month-end reporting requirements. Ensure compliance with the Company’s Integrity & Anti Bribery Codes, Conflict of Interest Policy & S.H.E. requirements. Provide stand-in support for the Masterfile Administrator.
Main Job Activities:
1. Head Office Accounting:
Processing of Head Office debtors and creditors including the preparation of payment requisitions.
Ensure that petty cash is recorded properly and processed accurately.
Assist with sending the weekly floorplan settlement and sales cards reports to the divisions.
Complete the month end Head Office bank reconciliation.
Maintain the Head Office fixed asset register.
Prepare monthly allocation schedules for group expenses to be charged via intercompany.
Prepare the monthly Branch information file for Head Office.
Processing and allocation of cash management monthly interest.
Perform monthly nominal ledger reconciliations and explain reconciling items.
Assist with the completion of the monthly tax pack for Head Office.
Assist with the preparation of audit schedules for Hard Close and Year End.
Process, allocate and reconcile intercompany entries between divisions. Financial Reporting Assistance:
2. Financial Reporting and Controlling:
Support various aspects of the Companies financial reporting requirements.
Assist with the updating of the monthly forecast files as well as the bi-annual forecasts and annual budget files.
Prepare the monthly reporting files and complete the upload of the Company and Business unit data into the various reporting systems.
Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial review summaries.
Assist with the preparation of the daily management dashboard (DOC).
3. Ad hoc Support:
Processing of the divisions telecommunication requests once the correct approvals have been received.
Maintain the Company’s fuel card application process and following up with the bank on any queries put forward by the business.
Assist with the administration and general services for the Head Office building and facilities.
4. Master data:
Provide stand-in support for the Masterfile Administrator.
Open new supplier and customer accounts once the relevant approvals have been obtained.
Oversee and action maintenance of supplier and customer records.
Prepare and load new group bank beneficiaries requests.
Maintain good relations by taking appropriate action in cases of queries and problems.
Maintain good communication with customers, suppliers, colleagues and management.
Take personal responsibility for learning and development through a process of assessment, reflection and actioning. This can include both on and/or off the job training. This also includes the sharing of learnings with the team
Knowledge of the Retail Motor Industry
Good written & verbal communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

Matric +3 year’s Accounting degree(advantageous)
A valid driver’s licence
2-3 year’s previous experience in the same or similar position
Highly proficient in Ms Office especially Ms Excel, proficiency in Kerridge
