Man killed during argument over culture

A 27-year-old man appeared in the Kagiso Magistrates’ Court for murder after he allegedly stabbed a man following an argument over cultural differences.
Kagiso Police spokesperson, Captain Solomon Sibiya explained that a murder case was registered with the police after a man in his 20s was stabbed to death on 11 June at Chief Mogale in Kagiso.
“The witness, who was a friend of the victim, alleged that on June 11 at about 00:30 he was walking with the victim and the suspect on the street when an argument started over an issue involving their culture,” explained Sibiya.
“The witness did not believe the argument was serious.”
A few seconds later the witness heard the victim screaming, and noticed that he had been stabbed. He then fell to the ground and lost consciousness.
“He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and later succumbed to the stab wounds,” said Sibiya.
After appearing in court the suspect was remanded in custody for a formal bail application.
