The winds of change have reached Hoërskool Hendrik Verwoerd in Pretoria.
A decision was taken to rename the school Rietondale Secondary School, ridding it of the name of the architect of Apartheid.
Gauteng education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi officially unveiled the new name on Friday after the provincial department of education took down the old name on Wednesday.

The department is sticking to its guns and changing the names of schools linked to the apartheid era.
Lesufi plans to rename many schools as part of his transformation programme.
He’ll rename schools that bear names and symbols from the apartheid era.
