Aobakwe Boholo – Mob MOERED me for nothing… The man is still living with the scars of a night of horror last month. The 24-year-old was beaten all day and night after a mob grabbed him from a tavern in Draaihoek, near Taung in North West, accusing him of stealing from a shop.

Said Aobakwe: “A group of people found me at a local tavern, chilling outside. They told me I had stolen from a shop and started punching, klapping and kicking me.”

He said he was tied up and loaded onto a bakkie while people continued lashing him. The bakkie drove to a quiet place and the beating continued for hours.

Said Aobakwe: “Later, they drove with me to my friend Kabelo Motsaathebe’s place. He wasn’t around, but he was cornered in Jan Kempdorp, Northern Cape.”

He said he was beaten until the early hours of the morning when he and Kabelo were rescued by cops. But they took him to police cells.

“Someone woke me up and asked me to wake Kabelo up, but he had died. Cops were alerted and I was taken to the hospital,” he said.

Aobakwe was charged with theft. and waiting to hear if he had been linked to a crime he knew nothing of But the stolen item was later found in the possession of another person. and waiting to hear if he had been linked to a crime he knew nothing ofNorth West police couldn’t say whether he was facing charges of theft but Captain Sam Tselanyane confirmed that Aobakwe and Kabelo were rescued by cops.
