SA COVID-19: Rapid Antigen test price reduced

South Africa’s three largest private pathology groups have agreed to a further price reduction of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen tests.
Pathcare, Lancet, and Ampath reached an agreement with the Competition Commission.
Rapid Antigen tests will now cost no more than R150, VAT inclusive.
It previously cost R350.
The price reduction will remain in effect for two years.
The three laboratories have also undertaken to submit financial statements every three months, to monitor prices.
The Commission also investigated the price of PCR tests.
It announced earlier this month that PCR tests would be reduced to R500.
