We are searching for an Animal Caretaker to join the Care for Wild team. We are looking for a fun and vibrant team player. As an Animal Caretaker, your responsibilities will include animal welfare, managing boma support staff, completing daily checks, and maintenance duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Matric (Grade 12)

· Fluent in English. Multilingualism will be advantageous

· More than 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Veterinarian Assistant /Veterinarian Technician

· Degree/ Diploma/ Certificate in the field of Conservation of Species/ Animal Health

· Experience with working with large farm animals (Cows, Horses) or Wildlife will be advantageous

· Experience performing maintenance on a wildlife reserve/ farm, including fence maintenance, vehicles, tools and implement repairs

· The ability to carry out duties unsupervised in harsh weather conditions

· The ability to follow written and verbal instructions

· The ability to identify and react appropriately to hazards

· Well-presented and well-spoken

· No criminal record

· A valid driver’s license

· Take accountability and be deadline-driven

· Ability to plan and work under pressure

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

· Daily station inspections, follow a weekly routine/plan

· Reporting any faults or concerns to the Manager and Teams

· Cleaning, feeding, and health checks of animals

· Performing inspections of tools, vehicles and implements

· Manage Staff and Guests/Volunteers working/ visiting the station

· Collection and analysis of data on animal biometrics, behaviour, health etc.

· Pest control at the station and on animals

· Handle work efficiently and using own initiative

· Ad hoc duties where needed

REQUIRED SKILLS

· Planning: Ability to prioritize administrative duties, organize and prioritise work for self and management in an environment with multiple and conflicting demands

· Teamwork: Capacity to balance the need to operate independently or work as part of a team, as tasks require

· Communication: Ability to communicate effectively, both internally and externally and contribute to a positive team dynamic

· Interpersonal: Well-rounded interpersonal skill set. Proper attention to detail and organisational skills to build strong team relationships and work effectively in a team environment

· Discretion and Confidentiality: Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters diplomatically and discreetly

Salary: From R10,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

Nelspruit, Mpumalanga: Reliably commute or willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package (Preferred)
