Andiswa Mengo tells tribunal she received threats after laying complaint against Mbenenge! High Court secretary, Andiswa Mengo has revealed that she received threats after she laid a complaint against Eastern Cape Judge president, Selby Mbenenge to withdraw the matter.

Her cellphone was later confiscated and some of the contents on the device were removed.

Mengo made the revelations before the Judicial Conduct Tribunal in Rosebank, Johannesburg – which is investigating allegations of sexual harassment against the top judge.

She alleges that Mbenenge made unwanted sexual advances towards her and even sent her crude and explicit images on social media platform, WhatsApp.

However, during proceedings, it was revealed that some things contained on the phone were no longer there.

Shocking new details have emerged on the last day of hearings before the tribunal.

Mengo has revealed that after receiving threats in January 2023, she handed her phone over to police for investigations.

However, she says when the phone was returned, some of its contents were missing.

“When I got threatened, my phone was handed in trying to search the call that came through that threatened me to say that I should withdraw and some of the other things were no longer on the phone.”

Her phone was only returned in March of the same year.

During this time, Mengo moved from the Eastern Cape to Gauteng for her safety.

The tribunal has adjourned and will reconvene in May.
