ANCYL in KZN proposes hijacked buildings be used to accommodate students

The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in KwaZulu-Natal says hijacked buildings should be used for student accommodation.

The youth league in the province marched over jobs in Durban on Monday, adding hijacked buildings, illegal foreigners, and crime to their grievances.

The ANCYL proposed the buildings to be put to better use.

“We can’t say that there are not enough residential places for students, but we’ve got hijacked buildings here, hijacked by illegal foreigners for drugs and many other things,” said ANCYL president Collen Malatji.

He called on the government to start refurbishing some of the identified buildings in this regard.

“We are saying these buildings must be cleaned up and students must immediately move in and have access to those buildings, so that they are able to be safe in those buildings.”
