The African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril Ramaphosa says the party will intervene in all municipalities where it performed poorly. This is as the party is gearing towards the 2026 local government elections.
Ramaphosa made the comments at the opening of the ANC Lekgotla in Boksburg on Sunday. The ANC President says that the party will work with other political parties to stabilize municipalities across the country.
“The NEC made an assessment of all hung municipalities and has decided to intervene to work with a range of other parties to stabilize municipalities across the country,” Ramaphosa says.
He adds that the national task team on coalitions will participate in engagements. These are expected to star in Johannesburg, with Ramaphosa saying: “It will help to restore and rebuild and renew various structures

The up-and-coming South African musician and producer Lizwi Wokuqala, who tragically died in a car crash with Lesotho-born musician Malome Vector, was laid to rest at his home in Durban.
His funeral service took place at Newtown Hall, Inanda, and he was buried at Phoenix Cemetery, north of Durban, on Sunday, 4 August. Meanwhile, Malome Vector will be laid to rest in Lesotho on Saturday, 10 August. Read more
