ANC set to take Free State as almost all votes counted

The capturing of votes is almost completed in the Free State, and the African National Congress (ANC) says it’s happy as it looks set to retain power in its founding province.
So far, 96.47% of the votes have been counted, and the party continues to lead, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Affairs are close to wrapping up at the Bloemfontein results operations centre.
And with the ANC leading with 52.59%, the party said this was already a decisive win for them.
Their head of elections, Saki Mokoane: “The ANC in the Free State is being reaffirmed by our people to lead the government for the next five years, and continue with the mandate to rebuild our society.”
The ANC’s winning figure is, however, a far cry from the 61% it received in the 2019 polls.
The DA, on the other hand, received 4% more votes, while the EFF also saw growth of nearly 2%.
