The ANC National Working Committee has an emergency meeting with trade union federation Cosatu and the South African Communist Party.
The meeting comes after Finance Minister Tito Mboweni announced plans to cut the public sector wage bill during his budget speech last week.
The ANC’s alliance partners Cosatu and the SACP say the public wage bill, is not up for negotiation, at least not now. The controversial plans have now been sent to the bargaining council, Nedlac.
