Alex Shutdown Movement threatens to shut down Sandton

Alexandra residents aren’t backing down. The Alex Shutdown Movement held a meeting on Thursday night after houses were demolished last week.

The movement is threatening to shut down Sandton and disrupt businesses.

Alexandra resident Thembeni Manana they are planning to reclaim their dignity by occupying land.

“We are going to occupy the land, we are going to disturb capital in Sandton City to say you’re making of us, importing labour and there is nothing you are bringing back to us as a community,” Manana said.
