Residents of Limpopo should brace themselves for new nightlife changes.
From 1 August, the sale of alcohol in the province will be prohibited after midnight.
The Limpopo government is adamant its new liquor law will help curb crime and social ills in the province.
MEC for Economic Development, Environment, and Tourism, Rodgers Monama says the alcohol curfew is in the best interests following police reports of high levels of fatalities after midnight.
Monama says several stakeholders, including the Department of Health, are on board with the law.
“People are quite happy and excited about this new law,” he said.
“I think we’ve been very fair and consultative in the process to ensure that we also contribute meaningfully.”
