AKA to drop sneaker collaboration with Reebok

AKA has announced a sneaker collaboration with sportswear brand, Reebok. The star shared a snap of the SneAKA which is set to hit stores later this month. This comes a few months after he hinted at the news during a visit to the brand’s headquarters in Boston.

Taking to social media to share the news, he shared that the sneaker was designed by him and his brother. He shared in part: “CONGRATULATIONS to @reeboksouthafrica and the team for pulling this off … DESIGNED by the FORBES BROTHERS, myself & @nickyheat__ #TheSneAKA 🇿🇦 … From AFRICA, to the WORLD.

The two photos show the backs of two pairs with the words “Supa” and “Mega” written out separately on each shoe. He also revealed that the shoe would be called the ‘SneAKA.’

The “Fela In Versace” rapper has been the Face of Reebok Classic AFRICA for the clothing brand since 2017. The deal was quite big and involved seven-figures.

The global campaign included Americans: hip-hop star Future, supermodel Gigi Hadid and rap duo Rae Sremmurd. The brand has also had partnerships with other international and influential artists in the music industry. They’ve worked with Tyga, Kendrick Lamar, and Cam’ron. In part of his social media caption, AKA wrote that he was taking the new sneaker “From AFRICA, to the WORLD.” He also shared that the collaboration had taken “many years” to fulfill.
