AKA demand Cassper’s dismissal from The Braai Show

AKA is not backing down without a fight and he is making sure that Cassper Nyovest‘s show with SABC 1 called The Braai Show With Cassper, does not see the light of day.

The rapper and season 1 host of The Braai Show With AKA, wants Cassper Nyovest elbowed from the show. This after it was announced this month that Cassper would be taking over the reigns as the host of the popular show on SABC 1.Cassper-AKA

Through his lawyers, AKA claims that this appointment was made behind his back and was not informed. Furthermore, he adds that he owns 50% of the show, hence the need to have been informed of this decision. “In these circumstances, we are instructed to demand, which we hereby do; A 50% entitlement as joint copyright owner to all proceeds received in relation to the show. This includes but not limited to, proceeds from the channel, i.e SABC, sponsorship or otherwise concerned and in revelation to furtherance and or promotion of the show.”

He also wants to be credited as the Executive Producer of the show, “…appropriate credits as the executive producer of the show.”

Should they fail to respond in 48 hours, then AKA threatens to have the show’s premier halted, “To demand that you provide an undertaking to cease the scheduled airing of the show on 8 September, as the tweet disseminated on the SABC’s Twitter page on Monday 9 August.”

Cassper on the other hand is arguing that he owns the title of Executive Producer. In addition, Cassper alleges that they have already shot a lot of episodes and that he has already been paid.

“Let me tell you something #TheBraaiShowWithCass is gonna start playing September 8th on Sabc 1, there will be noise for 2 weeks from his fans saying I suck, then the show is gonna blow up and ima cash out. If he owns it he woulda stopped the show from airing. It’s not happening.

He then laughed at the fact that he is being sued, “Lol.. Nawe you can sue me tomorrow for answering your tweet & make up the amount that u think I owe u and make headlines. Until you win the case in court, o bua Moya fela. People are just making senseless noise. Nothing is being stopped everything is still going as planned.”

“I am in no way attached to anything here. I got paid for a service. I delivered a service and I damn well enjoyed shooting #TheBraaiShowWithCass. It is shot already, I got paid already. It’s funny looking at people arguing about something that’s done,” he claims.

The producers had instructed AKA to retract his statements by 1PM on Friday the 13th. “Executive producers of the television show, The Braai Show with Cassper Nyovest are demanding AKA (Kiernan Forbes) to retract all comments, accusations and allegations made on all of his social media platforms regarding the show and his purported ownership by 1pm on Monday, 16 August. He must also apologise for the damage he has caused as a consequence of his actions,” reads the statement as quoted by Daily Sun.

“Essentially, the action points out that Kiernan Forbes has no copyright claims as show was conceived wholly by MakhuduCom; Forbes’ primary agreement with MakhuduCom applied to the AKA TV app and came post the creation of the show, and his claim to own 50% copyright is incorrect and malicious, among other matters,” continues the letter.
